A magpie balances on a wooden fence, the beautiful Wyoming landscape in the distance. The painting details a recognizably American landscape with its spacious skies and mountainous majesties. As it walks the line of the fence, the magpie calls into question where we stand, one side or the other, while the bird straddles this line, straying to neither side. Are we really as divided as we think? The magpie encourages us to consider our similarities and what we strive for as a people. Do we chase further division, or come together as a collective for change for our futures? Only time will tell.
