Art has been used as a powerful tool throughout history. This painting was created as an alarm to project reality if we continued to test the fragility of our democracy. My acrylic painting depicts a classical car adorned in American swag, which represents American pride and patriotism rooted in nostalgia. The car is on fire as it drives itself into its own demise. The words ‘“Justice is vintage. Freedom is vintage. Equality is vintage. Liberty is vintage.”, boldly display the consequences of not withholding our basic principles. Inspiration was also taken from my favorite quote, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” -Martin Luther King Jr.
