Rich Klein
New York native Rich Klein is an award-winning landscape photographer based in Lake Ariel and Parma, Italy. He spent all his childhood summers in the Catskills and Poconos at sleepaway camps so those many summers in the mountains surrounded by pristine lakes have become a consistent theme in his photography works.
In April 2026, his prints will be on exhibit at the Wayne County Library in Honesdale, following a long list of library exhibits in New York State and New Jersey that he’s participated in for more than a decade. In 2024, one of his images was selected for the “Elements” exhibit at the Wayne County Arts Alliance. He was also one of five artists featured in a curated exhibition at the Narrowsburg Union that ran for three months during the same year.
In September 2021, he won first place in photography at the Roselle Park NJ Arts Festival and second place in photography at the 30th Annual Edgewater (NJ) Art & Music Festival.
Klein’s The Catskills of Sullivan County: A Photography Journey is the first book of its kind to depict the splendor of upstate New York region in the 21st Century. Prints from that 2016 book are permanently displayed at the Sullivan County, NY Government Center in Monticello. A similar set of images were exhibited for five years at the Villa Roma Resort in Callicoon, NY.
Some of his other prints have twice been shown at the Liberty NY Museum and Arts Center over the past decade, including a moving exhibit of local firefighters at work.
He is also co-author of Massapequa: A Pictorial History Through The Eyes of Baby Boomers. Klein’s works from that book are permanently displayed at an Urgent Care Center and the Central Avenue Public Library in his hometown of Massapequa, New York. This followed multiple rotating exhibits throughout Nassau County on Long Island soon after the book was published in 2014.
Klein also has a love for street photography and has photographed thousands of people in New York City, Paris, Budapest, Barcelona and multiple cities throughout Italy. He has also worked as an independent photojournalist and event photographer before opening a portrait/glamour photography studio in The Hideout in July 2024.
Klein is a member of the Professional Photographers Association of America, the Wayne County Arts Alliance, Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, the Liberty NY Museum and Arts Center, The Fort Lee Artist Guild, and was previously a member of The Fort Lee Regional Chamber of Commerce, Creative Bergen and a founding member of the Bethel, NY Council of the Arts. He graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a degree in Journalism – and won a national sports reporting award in 1985 for his work at The Ithaca Journal. He spent most of the past three decades working as a public relations/crisis communications consultant and as an investigative reporter for The Sullivan Times, a volunteer journalism project, from 2018 through 2022.

The colorful duck on display was captured in 2016 beneath the Belvedere Castle in Manhattan’s Central Park. He and his daughter, Liliana, were enjoying one of many weekend outings there when this beauty swam by.
