Cynthia Shaw is a contemporary assemblage and mixed media artist. She lives and works in Milford, PA where she is surrounded by the nature and silence that influence her work. Cynthia’s distinctive, personal style emanates peace as well as speaking to the struggles and spiritual nature of life. She creates from an intuitive place that is process oriented. Cynthia received a BA in graphic design in 1981 and worked in the field for a few years. A calling to understand herself and other human beings more deeply drew her to pursue a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology. She has been in private practice for 33 years. Art and psychology have been deeply intertwined throughout her life. Her art work reflects life’s questions of “who am I”, “where do I belong”, “am I Enough”, “what is this journey of Life” and “what is the Source of all of this”? Cynthia midwifed her artist self after establishing her psychotherapy practice and raising her 2 children. She had her first show at the age of 50. In subsequent years, Cynthia has shown her work at the annual Nyack, NY ArtWalk, the Artery in Milford, PA and through the WCAA in Honesdale, PA. Cynthia has a line of jewelry that she makes from antique parts that are sold at the Wholeness Center in Valley Cottage, NY. For the last 14 years, Cynthia has sold her art work at local art shows, holiday fairs, private open studio sales, as well as online.
