    Public Art Project 2011

The Wayne County Arts Alliance is proud to announce its eighth annual Summer Art Project, "EXPRESSED MAIL". WCAA artist members have been ‘thinking outside the box’ by designing and creating unique three-dimensional mailboxes, whether futuristic, funky, folksy or fabulous. WCAA Summer art project is a real community event as local businesses sponsor the artworks at various locations throughout Wayne County. So take the WCAA’s Expressed Mail route this summer and see artrageous that is "First Class"!

After being on display during the summer months, the Expressed Mail artworks will be available for purchase at the fun and fabulous WCAA benefit art auction on Saturday August 20 at 7:00 pm at the PPL Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center near Hawley PA. The auction is free to the public and everyone is welcome! The doors will open at 6:00 pm for a public preview and the bidding begins at 7:00 pm.

The auction is to benefit the Wayne County Arts Alliance’s, whose programs and events "enrich our community through the arts". You can check out the mailboxes and their artists, at WCAA’s website: waynecountyartsalliance.org. The "Expressed Mail" auction is Wayne County Arts Alliance's major fundraiser and a great way to purchase original art and support the arts in our community.

    Open Studio Tour

    WCAA's 2011 Open Studio Tour
July 29 through July 31 from 11-5 pm

Throughout the Wayne County, the arts are alive in small private studios, converted warehouses, garages, workrooms and gardens. Each summer, on the last weekend in July, established and emerging artist open their studios, so the public can see first hand the inner workings of an art studio. Welcome to the annual Open Studio Tour, a Wayne County Arts Alliance (WCAA) tradition. The tour is free to the public with artists’ studios open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 29, 30 and 31 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. When you step inside an artists’ studio space, you see where the magic happens and what inspires these painters, potters, sculptors, photographers, woodworkers and metal smiths. However long or short your visit, you will find it to be an unforgettable experience.

    Public Hangings

We are currently taking applications from artist members to display their works at our "Main Street Museum" locations. At the present time, we have four community locations: Dime Bank, Pocono Lake Region Chamber of Commerce, Nature’s Grace and Wayne Bank. Each show requires a month commitment from an artist. For details and more information call the WCAA office at 570.253.6850 or email wcaa@waynecountyartsalliance.org.

You can download the application here.
