February 9th - March 30th, 2010: Children's Art Studio
5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Classes are designed to introduce children to visual arts and provide art enrichment beyond the school curriculum. A variety of media and techniques will be explored - with a special focus on drawing skills, a point of departure for every project. Students will be introduced to the concept of drawing from a model, which includes pictures and/or simple objects. In the later stages of each project, young artists are encouraged to use their own creativity to further develop their initial drawing into a finished composition. Media explored include markers, waterbrushed markers, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, oil pastels, scratch art, printmaking, watercolor, and acrylic paints.

February 10th - March 10th, 2010: Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Using an innovative and experiential approach to drawing, this method is designed to develop the skills necessary for drawing with confidence. Whether you are a novice, a practicing artist or believe you can’t draw at all, this three-part class of six weeks each, will expand abilities, enhance creativity and amaze you and your friends.
Part I includes the basics and the concept of negative space.
Part II covers perspective.
Part III will be devoted to portraits.

March 4th - 25th, 2010: Jewelry Basics
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Week 1: Easy Chain Mail: Learn to make attractive chains, bracelets, and earrings just by joining jump rings in attractive patterns. Colorful lightweight aluminum rings will be used in this class.
Week 2: Stringing and Design Basics: Learn how to use different stringing materials and how to finish them. Design basics will be explored and materials and colors chosen to arrive at a pleasing,
professionally looking finished design.
Week 3: Basic Wire Wrapping: Learn the basics of this process. Copper wire will be used to contain costs.
Week 4: Simple Earrings: Learn to make wrapped loops and simple earwires to design three pairs of earrings.

March 27th, 2010: WCAA Writing Seminar

The WCAA Writer's Workshop is pleased to offer the seminar "Critiquing:Constructive Connections" by noted author, editor and teacher, Christine San Jose.

The seminar will be held at the Community Room of the Wayne Co. Chamber of Commerce at 32 Commercial St. Honesdale. Space is limited, in order to ensure that every participant will receive individual attention. The cost is $25 for WCAA members and $35 for non-members. March 27th, 2010: Ukrainian Egg Coloring - One Day Workshop
2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Celebrate spring by learning how to color eggs the "old-fashioned" way. The traditional handcrafted art of Ukrainian eggs or Pysanky, starts with eggshells that are decorated in a technique akin to batik.
