I have been making hand cut paper montage since 1975. My work graced book jackets, record covers, and editorial stories for Dell Books, Avon Books, RCA Records, Psychology Today, The New York Times and many others before I left to pursue a career in antiques. Prior to this, in my early 20s, I was on the faculty of the Dance Department of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, toured the world performing with The Paul Taylor Dance Company, and headed the Dance Department at Sweet Briar College, Virginia.
Since starting to show my artwork again in 2015, I’ve appeared in numerous gallery shows around America including The Northeastern Biennial; Art of the State (2016, 2017) at the State Museum of PA; and Where Worlds Collide, my first solo show, at AFA Gallery, Scranton, PA. My work was recently included in the hardcover book Making the Cut, Vol. 1 – The World’s Best Collage Artists, which is available on Amazon along with my dance memoir Archive 1957-1974.
My art is about mixing unlikely visual images in ways that create something entirely different. I use surgeon’s scalpels and acid free materials. You’ll see many more examples at www.paulplumadore.com where you can learn more about what I do as well as purchase prints of my work in various sizes, including posters.
