Combining and working with different materials is an important part of my creative process. There have been many moments when I have been drawn to investigate some new medium or imagery. Each time I follow that impulse I am always excited and rewarded by the experience of opening a door that had previously appeared closed, igniting the creative process to flow like a river running down a mountain.

The images here are mostly painted digital images of shadows developed on the computer in Photoshop. Shadows are of great interest to me as an artist, and human being. We take our shadow everywhere we go. In a strange way our shadows are our constant companions and ultimately our greatest teachers.

The computer is a powerfully versatile tool to create art. My background as a painter and a printmaker obviously influences the way I approach developing photographic images and how I output my work. Using a digital camera is very freeing, making it possible for me to keep a spontaneous and adventurous approach to my process.
