Donie Schmidt

Donie has worked in acrylics, oils, and watercolors, although pastels have become her passion. Her favorite subjects to paint are animals. She also does beautiful oil paintings on feathers. Donie’s works have been collected internationally from Alaska, Holland, and St Lucia.

I was born in Colorado and grew up in New Mexico, where I was surrounded by scenic beauty and majestic wild life. At the present I live in Northeastern PA. with my husband and our precious Lab, Shadow. Here I continue to enjoy an abundance of wild life. We live on a 2+ acres of wooded land in Dyberry, PA where the deer, birds, wild turkeys and black bear are bountiful.

My earlier works reflected the use of acrylics, oils and watercolors, which lead me to my primary medium. Pastels. They have become my passion. My favorite subject to paint are animals and I always start with the eyes. That is the soul of the animal and of my work.
