Prior to his distinguished teaching career at City University of New York, Raymond experienced his formative tears as an artist during his yearlong residency in Italy as a Fulbright Scholar. Influenced by the spirit of the Italian Baroque he was well positioned to play a major role in the Abstract Expressionist movement of New York City on his return. Raymond's substantial and significant body of work is primarily of plaster, wood, bronze and steel. His new work explores the medium of terra cotta.
"I believe in love, I love making sculpture, I love gardening, and now, since an auto acident two years ago, I love making jewelry." Raymond's silver pieces are miniature sculptures, wearable art.
