Many qualities of Trix Render's dream-like, metaphorical paintings draw from images and experiences of her childhood in the vast Orange Free State region of South Africa, where as Trix says, "you could see tomorrow yesterday." A lover of birds, animals and nature, she paints detailed, primal and haunting images of pets and woodland flora and fauna, which capture the dignity, violence, pathos and beauty of lives lived twice or fifty times faster than our own.

I am self-taught and I work primarily in oil. I also work in watercolor and inks. I live and work in Damascus. I sell my work to private collectors, and do commissions as well.
