My family came to
the U.S. on Pearl Harbor Day, 1979. I started to work as a porter, sweeping floors in
Boulevard Hospital and working in the warehouse in Queens. In 1980 I started to work
as an Accounts Receivable clerk in America Hospitality, later moving to Computer Operator,
and the Data Processing Manager's positions. In 1986 started to work in Atlantic Records, and
in 1990 in Eascada (USA), Inc. as Data Center Manager. And since 1996, worked for Dow Jones,
Bridge, and Reuters Systems Engineer. After 9/11/2001, when I experienced both Towers tumbling
down while trapped in the subway train underneath, my son getting killed on the 103rd floor of WTC1,
losing my job as result of 9/11, about to lose my apartment, I started to take long walks and
taking pictures of interesting things to keep myself occupied. And I also started to move to Damascus,
PA.
After getting some encouragement from my friends, a Safe Horizon councelor, which I didn't take too
seriously, and from the Editing Director of Art Department of Vanity Fair, I started to take my photos
more seriously, published them on the web, having the on a display in Brooklyn gallery. And after
being #13 in Czech Republic's "Fota.cz" and being contacted by "Supraphoto" agency from Prague,
considered publishing them more widely.
