Organic farmer and orchardist Roger Hill recently built his permanent studio and residence in Northern
Wayne County. From the surrounding countryside, the inspiration for his paintings emerge. Rich in
color and symbolic imagery, Roger's pensive landscapes speak as much about our separation from the
daily rhythms of life as they do about the formative forces of nature. Like visual mantras, his
paintings impart a sense of tranquility and express Roger's belief in the connectedness of seemingly
separate elements in nature. Originally from southwest Ohio, Roger earned his BFA from Miami University
of Ohio in 1981. He has exhibited at the Beaux Arts Gallery at the Columbus Museum of Art and designed
sets for regional theater companies. Over one hundred of Roger's paintings and illustrations have
appeared in books and magazines including Lighting the Flame of Compassion by Pandit Rajmani Tigunait,
Every Woman's Yoga by Jamie Stover Schmitt and Yoga International magazine.
